TargetedGovernoratesTaiz,Sana’a,Al-Hudaydah,Dhamar,Abyan,LahjSectors FoodProcessing,Livestock,riculture,FishPlannedBeneficiariestoTarget SmallWomenDairyGroups 33 (5members) PioneerWomenDairyGroups 40(10members) CollectingCenters 7 (20members) SeedlingCenters 7 (20members) ro-ProcessingWomenGroups 40(15members) FisheriesCooperatives 6(50fisher) Total 133(1,745members) ProjectValue $512,645.03project-patternYemenFoodSecurityResponseandResilienceProject(FSRRP)October2023–June2026 TheFoodSecurityResponseandResilienceProject(FSRRP)inYemenistargetingtheseverefoodinsecurityinYementhroughenhancingproductivityindairyandsesamevaluechainswiththeobjectiveofmeetinghouseholds39;andcommunity’sfoodsecurityneeds.FSRRP–YemenisalsogoingtosupportMSMEstargetingmicro-producers,SMEsandcooperativestobemoreresilientcommunitiestocopewiththecurrentfoodinsecurity,health,nutritionandpoverty.MoretothecontinuingfoodinsecuritycrisisinYemenwhichhasbeenexasperatedbyaprotractedconflictthatdestroyedtheeconomy.Yemenisarestarvingtodeath,withonly10%ofitsfoodproducedlocallyandaneconomiccollapseshrinkingrealGDPby48.4%overthesameperiod.Thisinturncreatedanenormousunemploymentissue,withover32%ofthepopulationunemployedby2019andasaconsequencepeoplewerebeingdrivenintochronicoracutefoodsafetydeprivation.TheFSRRPprojectseekstoaddressthedifferentialimpactofthecrisisonwomenandgirls,asgenderinequalityplaysamajorroleinfoodinsecurity,undernutrition,andpoverty.Publicservicesshuttingdownandthecurrencydevaluating,madeeveryimportexpensiveandcausedanever-greaterscarcityofimportedgoods.In2020,thissituationwasfurthercompoundedbytheexhaustionofforeignaidresourceswhichresultedintheincreaseoffoodpricesandlackofaccesstobasicnecessities.Women-headedhouseholds,alreadyfacingdiscriminationinthelabormarket,bearthebruntofthesechallenges.Theyspendalargerportionoftheirbudgetsonfoodduetounequalwesandlimitedjobopportunities.TheFSRRPprojectseekstomitigatetheseissuesbyprovidingsupporttolivestock,riculture,andprivatesectorcomponentsthroughlivestockproducers,sesamefarmers,supplychains,andricultural co-operatives&leadingcompaniesstabilizingtheeconomy,andensuringaccesstovitalresourcesforvulnerablepopulationsinYemen.
